It encompasses acres of some of the most beautiful land in Davidson County. I am amazed at how many people that have lived here for a number of years, and either do not know about it, or have never been. I have been going there since I was a kid as we lived on the edge of the park. They built a reservoir large enough to supply water for its steam engines at nearby Radnor Yards in the basin below two ridges, through which Otter Creek flowed.

Over the next three years manpower and horsepower worked the hours needed to build the dam. Inside the dam is a concrete and metal framework holding the pipes that allowed water to be drained from the lake. Harding Place turns into Battery Lane, turn left on Granny White Pike and go about 2 miles, and then turn left east on Otter Creek Road to the visitor center and parking area. Parking and access from the south end of the natural area is located on Otter Creek Road off of Franklin Road.
